Ride of Prayer & How much is God worth to you?

without comments

Many thanks to everyone who came for E.P.L. and we hope you all had a great time!

Our next upcoming event is Ride of Prayer on 8August 8pm-8am. Together with the Boys Brigade & Frontliners, we will be cycling to various parts of Singapore and stopping at certain points to pray for our country and fellow Singaporeans. Come join us for a fabulous time of prayer, food, fun & fellowship! Just a reminder that the closing date for registration is 3rd August, so remember to get your registration forms in by then! Below is a video on the event for your viewing pleasure!

Also, just a heads up for August, we’ll have a speaker session on the 16th and on the 30th of August we’ll also be having another event! Stay tuned for more infomation!

Ah and heres a devotion written by our very own Rev Joel, if you missed His email:

How much is God worth to you?

One very sad recurring problem in Christianity is that we sing on Sundays, about how much we need God. And then on Mondays, we substitute Him the very second something else comes up.

Let me illustrate: a new job comes up, and we sideline serving God over the week in a church ministry. We transit from college to varsity and the schoolwork piles up, and guess who gets the cut – God. A business deal comes along, and when weighed against coming to the worship service or fulfill our responsibility in terms of ministry- and guess who gets cancelled more often than not.

It is telling that when life’s schedules beckon, that serving God takes the first cut.
Our jobs matter over ministry. Now do not get me wrong, if we actively minister through our jobs and share the gospel and reach out to hurting Christians in our work- that’s fine. But I’ve seen, that in most cases, people treat jobs as jobs and God doesn’t figure very much in their daily plans at work.

How much is God worth to you?
And what have your decisions in serving God through His ministry been saying about that?

It’s between you and God.
But remember, if God can get cancelled for a TV show, an exam coming up, a new job, a heavy work week, then what makes you think that you can stand when the end comes, and persecution heavier than the abovementioned distractions, comes our way?

One who cannot lift a 1kg weight, should not hope to be able to lift a 10kg one when it matters.

In Him,
Rev Joel Yang

E.P.L. & Ride of Prayer!

Here are some of our upcoming events!

Photobucket

As many of you know, we’ve been planning to have a chalet for quite some time! However, in the past 1.5months we have been unable to get a chalet for this very saturday (booking chalets in Singapore is a crazy crazy task!). So we’re postponing our chalet and having a bbq instead! Bring some wacky games (like Twister!, Citadel, Munchkins), an empty stomach and most importantly, yourself! Food will be taken care of, but you’re welcome to bring any ‘die die must try’ food!

To get to Meyer Park Condo. There are a few options:

Step 1: Buses (starting point is stop zero):

  • Take 196 from Parkway Parade (the one in front of the POSB atms) and stop at the 4th stop
  • Take 12 or 14 from opposite Katong Shopping Centre and stop at the 3rd stop
  • Take 12, 14 or 196 from the Blind & Deaf association at fort road and stop at the 4th stop
    Step 2: On Foot:

  • The bus stop you stop at should be on Mountbatten road and near an Etonhouse childcare centre
  • From there, look for Broadrick road (its about 100m from the bus stop. Assuming you came from parkway/katong, just follow the direction the bus you took is going towards). When you see the Broadrick road sign, turn left and walk towards the end. At the end, you will reach Meyer Road.
  • Turn left and you should see Meyer Park Condo!

For those who are afraid you will get lost, we will meet at the Parkway Parade bus stop (the one in front of the POSB atms) and leave @ 5pm and make our way there together. If you are late or lost, feel free to contact me @ 90185085 for directions!

Next up we have:

Photobucket

You will find the registration form in your email in a few days. Just print it out, fill it up and pass it to me along with 5dollars ($0 if you bring your own bike!). Alternatively you can get a form from me on Sunday or ask me to bring some to cell (if im in your cell group!). If you are under 21, you must sign the parental consent portion hor!

Have a blessed weekend everyone and we’ll all meet again on 26th July!
